Dual power supply FUTABA DLPH-1S

Dual power supply FUTABA DLPH-1S

SAFETY FIRST! With the Futaba Dual Link Power Hub DLPH-1, you quadruple the safety of your model by running two S.BUS/S.BUS2 receivers and two batteries in parallel. If there is a problem with the main receiver or one of the batteries, the DLPH-1 switches to the second receiver or battery in a flash. But the DLPH-1 can do so much more...

The Futaba Dual Link Power Hub DLPH-1 is designed for the high current supply of Futaba S.BUS receivers and normal servos as well as S.BUS/S.BUS2 servos. The servos are connected to the corresponding servo outputs on the DLPH-1. These supply the servos with power, position and control signals. Only one connection cable between the DLPH-1 and the receiver is required for powering the receiver itself and for signal transmission.

If several servos are to be operated at the same time with a lot of power and/or at high speed, this basically poses a problem for the supply of the servos, since power and speed always go hand in hand with high power requirements.
This required power cannot be sufficiently supplied to the battery via the individual plug-in connection directly at the receiver, which leads to a "bottleneck" for the required servo power.

If necessary, the voltage drops, the servos become weaker or slower or both. In the worst case, they even stop and the receiver fails.
Depending on the required power. When using the Futaba Dual Link Power Hub DLPH-1, the power flows directly from the DLPH-1 to the servos.

FEATURES:

  • Servos with high power demand are connected to the DLPH-1 instead of the receiver.
  • he DLPH-1 has two high current XT60 connections for two receiver batteries thanks to the integrated battery switch. Their voltage is then routed (via the integrated battery switch) directly and without loss to the servo sockets of the DLPH-1.
  • The servo position and control signals are routed separately from the receiver to the individual connectors. For the receiver to work, it is powered by the DLPH-1 (S.BUS signal, all in parallel via a single patch cable.
  • The control and position signal is routed via the S.BUS to the plug-in connections of the DLPH-1.
  • The operating current for the servos and the receiver is thus "split".
  • Why is the current for the servos so high, and what happens if the power supply is insufficient?
  • For the large, dynamic and very brief fluctuations in power requirements (current peaks) of today's servos, an unimpeded power supply to the servos is essential. Therefore, not only high-current batteries must be used in the function chain, but also connectors and cables that can supply the high current to the servo sockets.
  • Conventional voltage controls work rather poorly, because they are always "slower" than the rapidly (very dynamically) fluctuating power demand of the servos, and also slower than a high-current battery, which can certainly supply these current peaks.
  • However, modern servos need precisely these current peaks to be able to deliver their real performance. There is therefore nothing better for the supply of such servos than to conduct the voltage from the battery to the servos in the most direct way, without any voltage regulation or other resistances such as unsuitable connectors or long or thin cables.
  • Adaptation to different servo voltages is best achieved by using appropriate battery types. LiFe batteries for all servos, or LiPo batteries for LiPo(HV) servos. This makes voltage regulation unnecessary.
