This makes it a perfect choice for intermediate to experienced pilots looking for a unique blend of STOL, aerobatics and night flying capabilities that you can't get with any other model!

E-flite Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m Overview

The E-flite Timber X 1.2m has ushered in a new era of STOL and 3D aerobatic capability. Based on the extremely popular Timber 1.5m models, but featuring a different wing design and oversized control surfaces, it offered an even wider flight envelope for a "soft to wild" experience. In addition to the standard LED landing, navigation and strobe lights, the Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m features high-visibility LED lights integrated throughout the airframe, making it possible to fly at any time, day or night! It also features numerous upgrades and improvements over the original Night Timber X, including a top hatch for quicker and easier battery changes, and combined electrical connectors for simpler installation and removal from the wing. Reinforced landing gear mounts and stronger springs, similar to those on the Twin Timber 1.6 m, enhance durability and STOL capability when flying over rough terrain.

Both versions feature updated, more reliable metal-geared servos, a compatible 3S and 4S 2,200-3,200 mAh motor with a new, stronger mounting design, and a higher-capacity 70-amp Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC. The basic BNF Basic version is equipped with a factory-installed AR631+ receiver featuring exclusive and enhanced AS3X+ technology, plus optional SAFE Select. The receiver also provides real-time telemetry, such as: overall battery voltage, current and much more, to compatible transmitters - with Smart and non-Smart batteries - as well as motor/thrust reversal for special ground evolutions and other capabilities. EPO hollow-core construction with composite reinforcement results in a lightweight yet sturdy airframe that makes it capable of handling extreme aerobatic maneuvers while keeping the wing loading low for impressive short take-off and landing (STOL) and slow-flight performance. You can even install the included leading edge battens to enhance slow-flight performance, or the optional floats (sold separately) so you can fly from the water day and night too!

Skill Level 2 - Some experience required

Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the necessary skills to assemble, configure and fly models of a similar class. You should have the experience and skills to successfully fly models such as the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1 m, Valiant 1.2 m, Commander mPd 1.4 m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5 m or other models of similar class before attempting to fly the Night Timber X Evolution 1.2 m BNF Basic version.

eXtra Smart technology

The Night Timber X Evolution 1.2 m is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart Lite controller that can provide a variety of telemetry data related to the power system in real time, such as: motor rpm, current, battery voltage and more - with Smart and non-Smart batteries - via compatible receivers (including the AR631+) and Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) during your flight. What's more, the receiver is loaded with a Smart transmitter file that lets you import all NX and iX series transmitter parameters during the linking process.

Exclusive eXtra technologies

This BNF Basic version is equipped with Spektrum's exclusive AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ technology works unobtrusively to attenuate the effects of wind and turbulence to provide an even more locked-in feel than standard AS3X, making you feel like you're flying a larger aircraft. Optional SAFE Select offers tilt and bank angle limits, as well as automatic levelling which can be activated and deactivated at the flick of a switch! And if you don't want to activate SAFE Select features, simply link the receiver as normal and only AS3X+ will be active.

eXtra LED

Factory-installed LED lights are integrated throughout the airframe for day and night flying! They are conveniently powered by the 3S or 4S flight battery from 2,200 to 3,200mAh and can easily be disconnected when flying in daylight. What's more, like the other Timbers, the Night Timber X Evolution 1.2 m is also equipped with realistic LED landing, navigation and strobe lights.

Extreme handling

The Night Timber X Evolution 1.2 m features a wing design with a shortened span, much larger ailerons and flaps, and enlarged elevator and rudder, compared to the Timber 1.5 m models. Double-bevel hinge lines allow all control surfaces, including flaps which can move in either direction, to be deflected to high angles for exceptional control and extreme 3D aerobatic capability. Or, at low speeds, the controls can be soft and docile so you can fly smoothly, or set more aggressively if you wish!

eXtra Power

The factory-installed brushless power system includes a 70-amp Spektrum Avian Smart Lite controller and a specially tuned motor and propeller that provide abundant thrust with a 3S LiPo battery, or extra power and unlimited vertical performance with a 4S battery without the need for modifications or upgrades. What's more, the more convenient top hatch and larger battery compartment make it easy to install batteries from 3S 2200mAh to 4S 3200mAh for more performance and flight time.

eXtremely durable

Hollow-core composite construction reinforced with EPO material offers a lightweight yet durable airframe. The Night Timber X Evolution 1.2 m also features updated, more reliable metal gear servos for precise control, however you fly it.

STOL (short take-off and landing) compatible

The wing design has a shorter span but almost as much wing area as the 1.5 m Timber models, plus it features drooping wingtips and can be fitted with the optional leading edge slats for improved slow flight and STOL performance. These features: oversized flaps, high-power brushless power system and lightweight design allow you to take to the air very quickly, or "float" to land in a very short distance.

Easy assembly

No glue is required for assembly, and as the few parts that do need to be assembled bolt together easily, the Night Timber X Evolution can be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge the flight battery. The two-part wing, now with combined servo and LED connectors, also makes transport and storage more convenient than ever before.

Versatile equipment options

You can take off from thick grass, gravel paths, dirt trails - even local lakes and ponds - and many other surfaces inaccessible to most models of this size. Stronger, reinforced fuselage supports and a cushioned undercarriage with stronger springs similar to the Twin Timber 1.6 m, absorb the bumps of rough surfaces during hazardous landings. And oversized tundra-style wheels and tires provide excellent clearance for the propeller. The optional float kit (sold separately) includes two water rudders for perfect steering control. Whichever equipment option you choose to fly with, both are easy to install and can be replaced in minutes.
