LEARN TO FLY SUCCESSFULLY WITH SAFE TECHNOLOGY If this is your first RC airplane, Horizon Hobby's exclusive SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology prevents over-control and crashes, while offering several flight modes to give you more control and capability as your skills progress: BEGINNER MODE In this flight mode, the aircraft has pitch and bank angle limits to prevent over-control, which can lead to loss of orientation and collisions with the ground. When the control levers are released, the aircraft automatically returns to level flight, allowing you to relax and enjoy simply "driving" the aircraft through the sky. This flight mode also facilitates take-off and landing.
INTERMEDIATE MODE This flight mode allows more freedom in pitch and bank, but still prevents significant over-control, and the aircraft doesn't return to level flight on its own. This allows you to make tighter turns and climb and descend faster as your skills progress.
What's more, Beginner mode automatically activates and returns the aircraft to level flight when it descends to less than 10 meters above the ground and the control sticks are released, which is no longer the case in Intermediate mode. EXPERIENCED MODE In experienced mode, there are no pitch or bank limits, so you're in total control!
You can perform aerobatic maneuvers, including loops, rolls, backflips, stall turns and more.
Panic recovery can be activated by switching to PANIC RECOVERY mode If you lose control of the aircraft in intermediate or experienced flight mode, simply switch to beginner mode and release the control sticks.
SAFE technology will automatically level the aircraft. EASY UPGRADE TO GPS COMPATIBLE SAFE® PLUS TECHNOLOGY Thanks to quick and easy installation of the Spektrum GPS module (SPMA3173; sold separately), you can add next-level autonomous guidance functions that make learning to fly even easier.
With SAFE Plus, you get: AUTOLAND Activated at the touch of a button, the advanced AutoLand function puts the aircraft on a stabilized approach to land alone near the GPS initialization point.
You can even provide a few directional commands to avoid obstacles or adjust the approach, while letting the system do the rest for a safe landing.
As your skills progress and you gain confidence, you can take control of more commands, and then learn to land without the help of the automated system. MODEL HOLD PROFILE This very useful function, exclusive to SAFE Plus, essentially allows you to "pause" the flight by placing the aircraft in a GPS-guided holding pattern.
When activated by a quick press of a button, the aircraft will automatically return to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle around until the command is cancelled by another quick press of the button. This is an excellent way to safely hand over control to a friend, or to regain visual contact should you lose sight of the model.
VIRTUAL BARRIER It's easy to accidentally let an RC plane fly too far, but with Virtual Fence, you don't have to worry. It creates an invisible boundary that the plane won't cross. When the plane reaches this boundary, it automatically turns around and returns to the GPS initialization point. It then "wags" its wings to let you know that you can regain control.
The all-new Spektrum Landing Aid Sensor (SPMA3180; sold separately) is easy to install and offers automatic flare control to help inexperienced pilots "fine-tune" landings by minimizing or completely eliminating bounce.
SPEKTRUM SMART BATTERY AND CHARGER The RTF version includes a Spektrum 3S 3200mAh Smart LiPo battery that offers long flight times, plus a Smart S120 USB-C charger that can be used with a variety of USB power sources.
Simply connect the battery to the charger, and the exclusive Smart Technology will determine and begin charging at the best speed to charge the battery correctly and safely automatically.
