Inspired by one of the most successful EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) sports aircraft models ever designed - the iconic Habu 32x - the E-flite® Habu XS (eXtra Sport) 80mm EDF also features swept-back wings and stabilizing trailing edges to enhance appearance and performance. The overall design, including the wing with leading edge extensions, has been adapted from the hugely popular Habu SS (Super Sport) 50mm and 70mm models to offer incredible low-speed handling characteristics that make this kind of flying and landing easier. This makes it one of the very best early "complete" jets for low-flying-time EDF pilots, and one of the best everyday sport jets for experienced pilots! Both versions feature LED lights, shock mounts and a power system compatible with popular 6S 4000-7000mAh batteries, and includes a 130-amp Spektrum Avian Smart ESC with optional thrust reverser/motor. The basic BNF Basic version also includes a factory-installed AR637TA+ receiver that provides real-time telemetry data and the benefits of exclusive, finely-tuned AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies to get you in the air faster - and easier and more fun to fly than other models in a similar class!

E-flite Habu XS 80mm EDF RC Airplane Overview

Based on the legendary Habu design, the E-flite® Habu XS (eXtra Sport) 80mm EDF is a more powerful, higher-performance "complete" version of the popular Habu SS (Super Sport) 50mm and 70mm models. It has the widest flight envelope, combining incredible low- and high-speed performance with aerobatic capabilities. This makes it an excellent choice for inexperienced or even more seasoned airplane pilots. At its core is a Spektrum™ 6S-compatible brushless motor and 130-amp Smart Avian™ ESC, combined with a 12-blade fan that works with cleverly designed ducts optimized to deliver plenty of speed and thrust, as well as a turbine-like sound - without the need for "cheater holes". It is capable of maximum level flight speeds of up to 120 MPH, and offers impressive vertical performance. What's more, it can accommodate batteries from 4000mAh to 7000mAh to deliver first-rate flight times.

No glue is required for assembly. The factory-finished one-piece wing, separate one-piece stabilizers and fuselage bolt together, so the Habu XS is ready to fly in no time. The lightweight, EPO-reinforced airframe leaves the factory in a fully painted, high-end finish, while the edges and hatch opening are plastic-coated for improved durability to prevent damage and paint chipping when installing or removing batteries. Eight factory-installed metal-geared digital servos with ball-jointed linkages, together with uniquely hinged and pinned control surfaces, offer crisp, precise control at all speeds. Functional features include LED landing and navigation lights, highly efficient flaps, electric retractable undercarriages, cushioned struts on the nose and main undercarriage, so you can move easily from grass and other surfaces.

Both versions include factory-installed power supply and servos. The BNF® Basic version also features a factory-installed Spektrum AR637TA+ receiver with enhanced AS3X+® and SAFE® Select technologies as an option. When using compatible transmitters equipped with AirWare®, the Smart receiver and ESC provide overall battery voltage, current consumption, engine speed and other telemetry data in real time, with both Smart and non-Smart batteries. With a transmitter with more than 7 to 8 channels, you can also use the optional motor/thrust reverser to shorten post-landing deployments and for other unique ground handling capabilities. It all adds up to a complete, high-performance EDF aircraft experience like no other, for beginner and experienced pilots alike!

Skill Level 2 - Some experience required

Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the necessary skills to assemble, configure and fly models of a similar class. And while this is one of the easiest "complete" Habu models to fly to date, it's not a first-ever RC aircraft suitable for beginners, or a first EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) jet model for intermediate to experienced RC pilots. You need to have the experience and skills to successfully fly simpler EDF models like the Habu SS (Super Sport) 50mm or 70mm E-flite or similar jet models before attempting to fly the Habu XS (eXtra Sport) 80mm EDF.

Are you new to flying RC aircraft? If so, the Habu XS 80mm is not a suitable first RC model, and we recommend that you learn to fly one of our specially designed trainers, such as the E-flite® Habu STS (Smart Trainer with SAFE) 70mm EDF (www.horizonhobby.cc/HabuSTSRTF). It's equipped with exclusive, innovative SAFE technology, enabling almost anyone to learn to fly successfully! The basic Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes almost everything you need to fly (with the exception of a compatible LiPo battery and charger sold separately or together in an economical Powerstage package) and is a perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot.

Exclusive technologies

The basic BNF Basic Habu XS 80mm EDF version features Spektrum's exclusive AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. The enhanced AS3X+ technology works unobtrusively to mitigate the effects of wind and turbulence, and offers an even more locked-in feel than the standard AS3X, making you feel like you're flying a larger aircraft. Optional SAFE Select offers tilt and bank angle limits and automatic levelling, which can be activated and deactivated at the flick of a switch! If you don't want to activate SAFE Select features, simply link the receiver normally and only AS3X+ will be active. The receiver is also loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that lets you import all NX and iX series transmitter parameters during the assignment process, so you'll be ready to fly in less time than ever!

Smart technology

The exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart ESC provides a variety of real-time telemetry data related to the power system, such as: overall battery voltage, current consumption, engine speed and more - with Smart and non-Smart batteries - via compatible receivers (including AR637TA+) and Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) during your flight. What's more, optional engine/thrust reversal can help shorten deployment after landing, and offers other special ground handling capabilities (7 to 8+ channel transmitter required for reversal).

Extremely well equipped

Shock-absorbing struts on the nose and main gear absorb bumps on rough surfaces, including grass, and enable you to evolve from a wider variety of terrains. Reliable electric retractable undercarriages feature durable metal components, and the steerable front wheel and wide main undercarriage provide excellent ground handling.

Factory-installed flaps offer enhanced slow-flight capabilities and performance, enabling take-off and landing over shorter distances and at slower speeds. This makes the Habu XS 80mm a perfect first "complete" jet model for those upgrading from the simpler EDF models. No glue is required for assembly, and you can get the Habu XS ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! The one-piece wing with hands-free connections bolts on and can easily be removed for convenient storage and transport. What's more, the airframe arrives from the factory in a high-end, fully painted, high-visibility finish.

The 12-bladed 80mm fan, Spektrum brushless inrunner motor and 130-amp Avian ESC combine with your 6S 4000-7000mAh 30+C LiPo battery to deliver excellent vertical performance and a fantastic speed range with virtually instant throttle response.
