And now, the WACO E-flite UMX has been updated and improved to be even easier and more fun to fly, and to pay tribute to this revered biplane! It features optional SAFE Select, is both 2S and 3S compatible, and also provides real-time battery voltage telemetry to compatible transmitters. And thanks to its ultra-micro size, the UMX WACO can be operated inside gymnasiums and other suitable spaces, or outdoors in courtyards, parks and sports fields! Overview
This updated and improved version of the WACO E-flite UMX is now equipped with optional SAFE Select, making it more stable than ever, as well as the exclusive Spektrum AS3X, which makes things easier and gives you the feeling of flying a much larger model, even in windy conditions. The factory-installed brushless power system features an enhanced 2S and 3S compatible outrunner motor. Install 2S 280 mAh batteries for performance similar to the original model, or use 3S 300 mAh batteries for more speed and unlimited vertical performance. The control unit includes a Spektrum ESC and receiver that provides real-time battery voltage telemetry to Spektrum AirWare-compatible transmitters as you fly. It's made from advanced EPS material for a lightweight yet durable airframe, and is now available in a choice of two color combinations: a yellow and a lighter, unpainted white version. Best of all, this Bind-N-Fly Basic model comes 100% factory-assembled and ready to link to your DSMX/DSM2 5-channel transmitter, so you'll be flying within minutes of opening the box! Its biplane design and ultra-micro size are perfect for flying indoors in gyms and similar spaces, as well as outdoors in just about any environment: from gardens to parks, sports fields and much more.

Already own a Spektrum transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make it easier than ever to get off the ground quickly and enjoy the best possible control experience. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4 GHz receiver installed. So all you have to do is link the receiver to a compatible transmitter, complete the final assembly and fly!
Exclusive technologies
This WACO UMX is equipped with Spektrum's exclusive AS3X and SAFE Select technologies. AS3X works unobtrusively to attenuate the effects of wind and turbulence to create a locked-in feel that makes you feel like you're flying a larger aircraft. Optional use of SAFE Select offers bank and bank angle limits, as well as automatic self-leveling which can be switched on and off at the flick of a switch, making this the easiest WACO to fly to date!
Telemetry compatible
The UMX WACO is equipped with a control unit that includes an ESC and a Spektrum receiver that provides real-time battery voltage telemetry to Spektrum AirWare-compatible transmitters (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) when you're flying.
Superior performance
The factory-installed brushless power system includes a 2S and 3S compatible outrunner motor. This enhanced power system configuration offers performance similar to the original when used with 2S 280-300 mAh batteries (an appropriate JST-RCY to JST-PH adapter, including SPMXCA327, may be required), or more speed and unlimited vertical performance with 300 mAh 3S batteries.
Detailed finish
The factory-finished airframe features a variety of details, including simulated shroud cables and a pilot figure with scarf. What's more, its finish is now available in two color options, including a fully yellow-painted base version and a lighter, unpainted white base version.
Lightweight design
Construction with advanced EPS material offers a lightweight yet durable cell. And in the unfortunate event that you damage parts or components of the airframe and can't repair them, a full range of spare parts is readily available.

Skill level 2 – Some experience required
Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the necessary skills to assemble and/or configure and fly models of a similar class. And while this is the easiest WACO model to fly to date, it's not a first RC plane suitable for novice pilots, or one after a training plane for inexperienced RC pilots. You need to have the experience and skills to successfully fly more capable ultra-micro models like the various UMX Timber models, or larger models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1 m, Commander mPd 1.4 m, Timber 1.5 m models, or other models of similar class before you attempt to fly the UMX WACO.

This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX® receiver with AS3X® (Artificial Stabilization-3-aXis) technology that works behind the scenes to mitigate the effects of wind and turbulence, so you can enjoy a feeling of stability and precision that makes you feel like you're flying an even bigger, expertly-tuned aircraft.
If this is your first model of this type, or if you'd like an extra margin of safety as you familiarize yourself with the aircraft, you can activate the optional SAFE® Select flight envelope protection technology, integrated into the receiver. No complex programming is required.
With SAFE Select activated, you get :
Pitch and bank angle limits
These envelope limits prevent the aircraft from rolling or turning upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles.
Automatic leveling
The airplane instantly returns to level and steady flight when the control sticks are released and in the center position. It is also useful for keeping the wings level during take-offs and landings.
Easy switch assignment - no complex programming required
The simple procedure of assigning a transmitter switch to activate and deactivate SAFE Select functions requires no complex programming, and takes just a few seconds. For UMX models like this one, the SAFE Select function is automatically assigned to channel 5 (Gear), so you can activate and deactivate it with any switch assigned to this channel (default switch A on most Spektrum computer transmitters).
