The WASA, a 64-gun Swedish royal vessel, sank in Stockholm harbor on the day of her launch (August 10, 1628), caused by a violent gust of wind. The ship sank in 35 m of water. Construction of the ship had begun in 1625, under the direction of Dutch architect Henrik Hybertsson. Although some items had already been recovered, it wasn't until 1956 that it was possible to refloat the hull. In 1958, partially rebuilt and restored, she was placed in Stockholm's "WASA" museum.
Our reproduction of the WASA is based on the highly accurate graphics published by the Stockholm museum management.
