The Pilot-RC Extra NG 78″ is a radio-controlled aircraft designed for precision aerobatics and 3D flying. With its 1.97 m wingspan and 7,847 cm² wing area, it is intended to be powered by a 30 to 40 cc gasoline engine or an equivalent electric power system.
Its airframe combines a wooden structure with composite elements that reinforce the fuselage and wings. The model features Pilot-RC’s quick-release system for the wings, stabilizer, SFGs, and canopy. This design makes assembly at the field, transport, and access to the batteries in an electric setup much easier.
The wings and stabilizer are detachable. The hinges for the ailerons and elevator are factory-installed, glued, and pinned. The engine mounting position is laser-engraved, while the engine cowl is attached from the inside so that no screws are visible on the outside.
The open structure makes it easy to install a canister-type muffler. The rudder control uses a pull-pull system to provide a direct link with the servo.
