The E-flite Viper 64 mm EDF is a scaled-down version of the extremely popular 70 mm and 90 mm models to offer a unique jet flying experience. And like the full-scale ViperJet, it has the look of a fighter jet with the stability of a low-wing "sport" aircraft, allowing more pilots to enjoy jet flying - even if it's your very first EDF! It offers excellent speed, vertical performance and aerobatic capability, while being easier to take off, land or hand-launch than other models in a similar class - especially the Bind-N-Fly Basic version, which features exclusive AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. And both versions are equipped with a Spektrum Avian 70A Smart Lite controller combined with a high-power outrunner motor and an 11-blade 64 mm fan to deliver astonishing performance with 4S 2,200 to 3,200 mAh batteries!
Like the full-scale ViperJet, the E-flite Viper 64mm EDF offers the look and performance of a fighter jet with the handling of a low-wing prop plane, so more pilots can enjoy flying a jet! It's an EDF that flies smoothly and behaves like a sports plane, but is also capable of top speeds and incredible acrobatics. But what really sets it apart is the ease with which it can take off, fly, land or be launched, making it the first choice for many pilots. No glue or special tools are required for assembly, and you can have it ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! The lightweight, composite-reinforced EPO airframe is factory-finished in the now iconic Aircraft Studio Design finish. And the seven factory-installed digital servos with ball-jointed linkages offer crisp, precise control at all speeds. It also features functional LED navigation and landing lights, as well as factory-installed flaps for shorter take-offs and landings, and improved slow-flight performance. The optional landing gear features a steerable nosewheel and shock-absorbing trailing-link struts, and can also be removed - without the use of tools - for greater speed and vertical performance when flying over grassy surfaces! Moulded handles facilitate manual launch, and the BNF Basic version also features an automatic manual launch assistance mode, making it one of the easiest to launch models in its class.
Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the necessary skills to assemble, configure and fly models of a similar class. And while this Viper is easier to fly than the larger models, it's not a first RC plane suitable for novice pilots, nor is it a first EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) jet model for inexperienced RC pilots. You need to have the experience and skills to successfully fly simpler EDF models like the 50 mm or 70 mm E-flite Habu SS (Super Sport), other similar jet models or high-performance propeller models, before attempting to fly the Viper 64 mm. EDF.
Are you new to flying RC aircraft? If so, the Viper 64 mm is not a suitable first RC model, and we recommend that you learn to fly one of our specially designed trainers, such as the E-flite® Habu STS (Smart Trainer with SAFE) 70 mm EDF (www .horizonhobby.cc/HabuSTSRTF). It's equipped with the exclusive and innovative SAFE technology that enables almost anyone to learn to fly successfully! The basic Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes almost everything you need to fly (with the exception of a compatible LiPo battery and charger sold separately) and is a perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot.
The exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC provides a variety of real-time telemetry data related to the power system, including overall battery voltage, current consumption, engine speed, and more - with Smart and non-Smart batteries - via compatible receivers (including the AR631). and Spektrum AirWare™-equipped transmitters (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you're flying. What's more, optional motor/thrust reversal can help shorten deployment after landing and offers other special capabilities for any ground evolutions (6 to 7+ channel transmitter required for reversal).
The 11-bladed 64 mm fan, brushless motor and 70-amp ESC combine with your 4S 2200-3200mAh 30C LiPo battery to deliver excellent vertical performance and a fantastic speed range with virtually instant throttle response. But what makes the experience truly rewarding is the amazing sound produced by the power system, akin to that of a real turbine engine.
You can install the included fixed landing gear with shock-absorbing struts and steerable front wheel - without the use of tools - to roll, take off and land on short grass surfaces. You can also remove the landing gear for greater speed and vertical performance, as well as easy manual launches and landings on taller grass, while using the molded handles and automatic manual launch assist mode.
Factory-installed flaps offer enhanced slow-flight capabilities and performance, while also enabling take-off and landing over shorter distances and at slower speeds. This makes the Viper 64 mm the perfect next jet model for those coming from simpler EDF models.
The "Viper" design offers incredible maneuverability over a wide range of speeds and flight envelopes. From slower-than-expected landings and low-speed passes to high-speed overflights, the airframe and power system combine to deliver incredible performance and aerobatic capability, so you can perform giant loops, barrel rolls, edge flips, snaps, tumbles and other maneuvers almost effortlessly.
The lightweight yet durable EPO airframe is composite-reinforced for added strength. And seven factory-installed digital servos with ball-jointed linkages deliver crisp, precise control at every speed.
No glue is required for assembly, and you can get the Viper ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! What's more, it's factory-finished in an exclusive, unique and highly recognizable Aircraft Studio Design finish.
