The E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.0 m is an excellent "next step after a training model" choice for beginner pilots interested in Warbirds. It's a simpler, less expensive alternative to the "full" P-51 models over 1.2 meters, which also makes it perfect for experienced pilots interested in hassle-free leisure flying!
The E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.0m is a scaled-down replica of the most popular and iconic fighter of all time! Inspired by the original ParkZone "Ferocious Frankie" and "Gunfighter" models and also as an alternative to the very popular E-flite T-28 1.1 m. It's designed to be a smaller, more affordable alternative to the more elaborate larger P-51s, as not everyone is prepared for the complexity of using flaps, and not all flying fields are suitable for retractable landing gear. However, it is larger than the micro and ultra-micro class models - and therefore easier to see and fly in stronger winds - while still being able to fly in large parks and sports fields, and being easy to transport without dismantling. This makes it a first-ever low-wing scale model and a perfect warbird for sufficiently trained beginner pilots and/or a "leisure" and "no-fuss" everyday flying aircraft for experienced pilots. The BNF Basic version is equipped with improved AS3X+ technology, which mitigates the effects of wind and turbulence better than ever. It also features optional SAFE Select technology, making flying even easier! And both versions include Spektrum digital servos with metal gears, a 30A telemetry-compatible ESC, and a 3S and 4S compatible motor.
If you're a beginner pilot looking to take the "next step" after your training model and are interested in warbirds, or if you're an experienced pilot looking for a fun, hassle-free model to fly, the E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.0m is the perfect choice. Like the popular and best-selling E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, it's designed to be a simpler, less expensive alternative to the more elaborate P-51 models equipped with retractable flaps and landing gear, which tend to be larger, more complex and more difficult to fly. The fixed landing gear, with a directional tailwheel, facilitates taxiing, takeoff and landing on smooth surfaces. Or, remove the landing gear for more speed and vertical performance with easy manual launches and landings on grass. It's conveniently sized for easy storage and transport without disassembly - so it can be flown in large parks and sports fields as well as RC flying areas. Factory-installed digital and metal-geared servos offer precise, reliable control at every speed. The power system includes a Spektrum motor and a telemetry-compatible 30-amp ESC, usable with the popular 3S and 4S batteries from 1,300 to 2,200 mAh. The BNF Basic version is equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR631+ receiver, featuring the exclusive enhanced AS3X+ technology and SAFE Select (automatic manual launch assistance) as an option. What's more, both versions leave the factory in the unique "Ferocious Frankie" finish used on the Mustang flown by Major Wallace E. Hopkins - an "Ace" credited with 8 victories in WWII.
Skill Level 2 - This is the next step up, suitable for RC pilots who have successfully learned to fly a trainer model, and for those with the necessary skills to assemble, configure and fly models of a similar class. Although this is one of the easiest P-51 models to fly to date, it's not the first RC aircraft suitable for new pilots. You need to have the experience and skills to successfully fly a training model like the HobbyZone AeroScout 1.1 m and Carbon Cub 1.3 m, or models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1 m, Valiant 1.3 m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5 m and other models of similar class before attempting to fly the P-51D Mustang 1.0m BNF Basic version.
The factory-installed brushless power system includes a telemetry-compatible 30-amp ESC and a specially tuned motor that provides abundant thrust with a 3S 1300-2200mAh LiPo battery, or more speed and unlimited vertical performance with up to a 4S 2200mAh battery without the need for modifications or options.
The P-51D Mustang 1.0 m is equipped with a telemetry-compatible ESC that can provide a variety of telemetry data related to the power system in real time, including engine speed, current, battery voltage and much more - with Smart and non-Smart batteries - via compatible receivers. (including AR631) and Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) during your flight.
No glue is required for final assembly, and you can get the P-51D Mustang 1.0m ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! And while it's conveniently sized to fit fully assembled into just about any vehicle, you can also remove the one-piece wing with hands-free connections for even easier storage and transport.
You can use the included fixed landing gear - with a directional rear wheel where the simulated doors/strut covers are - to roll, take off and land on smooth surfaces. You can also leave the landing gear retracted for greater speed and vertical performance, as well as easy manual launches and landings on grass, especially when using the automatic manual launch assist mode and SAFE Select featured in the BNF Basic version.
The lightweight yet durable EPO airframe is composite-reinforced for added strength. And factory-installed digital and metal-geared servos deliver crisp, precise control at every speed.
