The P-51 Mustang was a solution to the obvious need for effective bomber escort. The Mustang was at least as simple as any other aircraft of its time. It used a common, reliable engine and had internal space for a huge fuel load. With external fuel tanks, it could accompany bombers to Germany and back. A sufficient number of P-51s were made available to the 8th and 9th Air Forces during the winter of 1943-44.
For the ultimate realistic flying experience, the P-51 is equipped with all-metal spring mechanical struts. The P-51 comes out of the box with all sorts of details that have been finished for the consumer, including a factory-painted fiberglass cowling, a scaled antenna, a scaled spinner, and much more. For a high quality exterior surface and a realistic look.
