The wait is over. With the AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 RTR, Axial introduces the next level of RC rock crawling performance. It's the most innovative and maneuverable vehicle you've ever seen.
A true all-terrain vehicle, the Gilamon is not for off-roading or easy Sunday commutes. With its 2.2-inch wheels and new AXP8 platform, this remote-controlled all-terrain vehicle is unrivalled on the toughest trails and obstacles. Since it's ready to roll, you don't need any experience to succeed. But if you've spent a lot of time on the trails, you'll be blown away by what you can do now that was impossible before.
What's so revolutionary about the AXP8? Let's start with its sturdy, high-clearance AF16P front and rear portal axles, and especially the ASD (Axial Selectable Drive) on the rear axle, a more advanced, higher-performance transmission version of the cutting brakes. Whereas cutting brakes are only as powerful as the brakes themselves, ASD physically and completely locks a wheel. It's better than cutting brakes. And unlike the front lock, which locks the whole axle, the ASD can lock either rear wheel individually. This gives you an even tighter turning radius and considerably improved maneuvering capabilities.
The AF16P front axle and new advanced AT6 transmission are also designed to accept optional ASD configurations, giving you an unprecedented level of vehicle control. With ASD assigned to a 3-position switch on your transmitter, you can activate lock-up or constant 4WD functions. With a 5-position switch, you can configure the ASD system to drive, freewheel or lock.
No RC crawler has ever offered this level of sophistication. Nothing can stop you. The AT6 transmission is also equipped with a 30% underdrive on the rear axle, which dramatically improves climbing and increases handling.
The vehicle's track performance is further enhanced by the extreme articulation of its 4-link suspension and the extra play of its new, realistic IS10 innerspring dampers. An oversized, high-torque 21-turn Axial Boulder 550 brush motor sends power via durable, heavy-duty WB12 driveshafts to officially licensed Raceline Avenger wheels and 5.5-inch-high Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T tires. All around is a durable composite cage that offers protection and a trail buggy look ready for any challenge.
The included Spektrum DX3 radio and Firma 70A electronic controller give you the telemetry benefits of exclusive Smart technology. Other high-quality factory-installed Spektrum on-board electronics include an SR515 5-channel DSMR receiver, an S682 metal-gear steering servo and an SX117AX metal-gear micro-servo for ASD function. Simply add the recommended battery and charger of your choice - and you're ready to take on whatever obstacles lie ahead.
Get ready to go where no crawler has gone before with the Axial AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 RTR. It's king of the hill, trail, canyon, ledge and everything else off-road!
Develop your strategies for overcoming obstacles with the Gilamon trail buggy's ASD (Axial Selectable Drive), a more advanced, higher-performance transmission version of cutting brakes. Whereas cutting brakes are only as powerful as the brakes themselves, ASD physically and completely locks a wheel. As it is configured out of the box, you can lock one of the rear wheels for a tighter turning radius. The front axle and transmission also accept optional ASD configurations.
The Gilamon features a durable, realistic composite cage with Lexan body panels for protection and a trail buggy look ready for the challenge. The vehicle is factory-finished and available in your choice of two color options.
Axial emphasizes durability and versatility with its all-new AT6 transmission. The transmission features a 30% underdrive on the rear axle that dramatically improves climbing and increases maneuverability. It is also designed to accept optional ASD (Axial Selectable Drive) configurations for an unprecedented level of vehicle control.
Robust, high-clearance AF16P portal axles are among the design innovations that enhance maneuverability for success on difficult trails. The rear axle is fitted with ASD (Axial Selectable Drive) and the front axle is ASD compatible.
Spektrum's high-quality, waterproof on-board electronics are ideal for crawling in all conditions. The Spektrum S682 metal-geared steering servo features the standard 25-tooth spline count and an aluminum rudder bar for added strength. A Spektrum SX108 micro metal-geared servo is included for the ASD (Axial Selectable Drive) system.
A big machine like the Gilamon needs a big motor. The oversized, factory-installed Axial Boulder 550 motor is longer than a conventional 540 motor, offering more torque and greater durability. The 21-turn design offers the perfect blend of power and wheel speed.
The included Spektrum DX3 Smart transmitter, SR515 5-channel receiver and Firma 70A Smart ESC electronic speed controller are ready to deliver the telemetry benefits of Smart technology. Install a Spektrum Smart LiPo battery and you can monitor the vehicle's battery capacity on the transmitter's voltage level indicator.
The Gilamon features an all-new aluminum body and IS10 internal spring shock absorbers for increased ground clearance and scale realism. Its soft, highly flexible 4-link suspension geometry reduces torque twisting effects and offers consistent articulation without the steering shock found in 3-link designs.
For night-time travel, pre-installed LED lights illuminate each wheel. Housed in sturdy casings, the bright LEDs are attached to the cage, allowing the lights to be moved around. Various colors add clarity for travel and style.
Heavy-duty WB12 front and rear driveshafts offer the durability needed to withstand the abuse of crawling over rocks and rough trails.
The Gilamon rides on officially licensed 5.5-inch-high Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T 2.2 tires. They look authentic and provide the aggressive traction needed to overcome and conquer any obstacle.
The classic 8-spoke design of these officially licensed Raceline Avenger 2.2 wheels adds to the authentic look of the Gilamon scale trail buggy.
