A new generation of KAVAN Plus microprocessor-programmable electronic speed controllers for sensorless brushless motors, designed with the latest advances in semiconductor technology to guarantee high performance, while remaining simple to use and user-friendly. PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS

  • Brake type: normal brake on/off, reverse brake (forward/reverse direction is selected by an auxiliary channel with 2-position switch on your transmitter, revolutions are controlled by the throttle), linear reverse brake (reverse revolutions are controlled by a proportional control assigned to an auxiliary channel on your transmitter).
  • Brake force: brake force adjustable to 60/90/100% (normal brake mode only).
  • Voltage cut-off type: soft cut-off: after selecting this option, the regulator will gradually reduce output to 60% of total power within 3 seconds of activating low-voltage protection. Hard shutdown: the regulator cuts the output immediately.
  • LiPo cells: the controller will automatically calculate the number of LiPo cells connected according to the "3.7 V/cell" rule if "Auto Calc." is selected, or you can set this manually.
  • Cut-off voltage: if deactivated, low-voltage protection is disabled. If enabled, the protection voltage threshold is selectable at 2.8 V/cell, 3.0 V/cell or 3.4 V/cell.
  • Start-up mode: used to adjust the throttle response time of the controller during acceleration from 0% to 100%. Normal/Soft/Very Soft correspond to approx. 200 ms/500 ms/800 ms respectively.
  • Synchronization: adjustable at 5/15/25°.
  • Active freewheeling (WD): this item can be set between "On" and "Off", and is enabled by default. When enabled, it offers improved throttle linearity or smoother throttle response.
  • Search mode: after selecting this option, the controller will "sound" the engine to indicate when the throttle is held at 0%, and will continue to do so for the set duration.
  • BEC voltage: selects BEC output voltage 5.0/6.0/7.4/8.4 V.

PROTECTION FUNCTIONS

  • Start-up protection: the controller monitors motor speed during start-up. If the speed stops increasing or becomes unstable, the controller will consider this a start failure. At this point, if the throttle is below 15%, the controller will attempt to restart automatically; if it is above 20%, the throttle must be returned to its rest position before restarting the controller.
  • Controller thermal protection: the controller will gradually reduce output to 60% if the temperature exceeds 120°C (soft shutdown mode)/the controller will immediately stop the engine (hard shutdown mode).
  • Protection against loss of gas pedal signal: when the controller detects a loss of signal for more than 0.25 seconds, it immediately cuts the output. It will resume the corresponding output once normal signals are received.
  • Overload protection: the controller will automatically cut power/output or restart when a significant overload occurs.
  • Low-voltage protection: when the battery voltage falls below the set cut-off voltage, the controller triggers low-voltage protection. If the battery is set to soft cut-off, the voltage will be reduced to 60% of full power. In hard cut-off mode, the output is switched off immediately.
  • Abnormal input voltage protection: when the battery voltage is outside the input voltage range supported by the regulator, the regulator will trigger the abnormal input voltage protection and cause the motor to sound.

Tip: The first time you power up the controller, calibrate the throttle range as described in the manual. Then you can use the controller normally or configure the programmable parameters via your transmitter or the KAVAN LED PRO programming card.
