The Flywing H1 Pro is a flybarless flight control system designed for equipping RC helicopters in the 280 to 900 class range. It combines an inertial measurement unit, a pressure sensor, a compass, and an external GPS/GNSS module to offer various levels of flight assistance.

Compatible with H3 and HR3 swashplates, it can be installed on both sport helicopters and large-scale models, provided the mechanical and electronic configurations specified by Flywing are respected.

Three Flight Modes

The H1 Pro offers three modes adapted to different uses:

  • GPS Mode: position and altitude hold;
  • ATT Mode: attitude stabilization with automatic leveling;
  • 3D Acro Mode: operates like a traditional flybarless gyro, intended for manual flying and aerobatics.

Three flight sensitivities are included: gentle, standard, and sport. The maximum angles are stated as 25°, 35°, and 40°, respectively.

GPS/GNSS Positioning

The main module uses a u-blox M9N chip and communicates with the controller via CAN bus. This connection is designed to improve communication stability and resistance to interference.

In GPS mode, Flywing claims hover precision of:

  • ±0.5 m on the vertical axis;
  • ±1.5 m on the horizontal plane.

These performances require proper satellite reception and outdoor use in an open area. Buildings, obstacles, and sources of interference can affect positioning accuracy.

A second UART GPS module equipped with a u-blox M10 chip can be added as an option.

Automatic Return

The H1 Pro offers automatic return to the home point:

  • on pilot command;
  • when the battery voltage reaches the configured threshold.

The controller can then bring the helicopter back to its takeoff zone and initiate landing. The voltage threshold must be set with enough reserve to allow for the return journey.

The measurement port accepts LiPo battery monitoring up to 12S, with a maximum voltage of 51 V.

These functions provide flight assistance: they do not replace pre-flight checks or maintaining the helicopter within visual range.

Assisted Takeoff and Landing

The optional progressive takeoff function automatically raises the helicopter to about one meter. During landing, the controller can slow and stabilize the descent as it approaches the ground.

This assistance is disabled by default and can be enabled or disabled according to the pilot's preference.

Coordinated Turns

The coordinated turn mode combines yaw and roll controls. In forward or backward flight, the controller automatically banks the helicopter based on speed and input to achieve a turn more similar to that of a full-size helicopter.

Integrated Sensors

The H1 Pro controller includes:

  • an ICM42688P gyroscope;
  • an IST8310 digital compass;
  • an MS5611 pressure sensor;
  • an internal vibration damping system.

Compass calibration can be triggered from the transmitter by toggling the mode switch several times. The controller's LED indicates the procedure status.

Radio Compatibility

The supported receiver protocols are:

  • S.BUS;
  • PPM;
  • i-BUS;
  • WBUS;
  • SUMD;
  • ELRS;
  • DSM2;
  • DSMX.

Depending on the receiver and protocol used, a specific cable or adapter may be required.

Compatibility Precautions

The H1 Pro is intended for flybarless helicopters using H3 or HR3 swashplate geometry. Flywing specifies that it is not compatible with Bell bar helicopters or with mechanics using reversed collective pitch geometry.

Installation, mechanical setup, control directions, and safety features must be thoroughly checked according to the manual before the first flight.
